CHEMICAL PEELS

Healthmedica Medispa Wellness Centre brings clients one of the most effective chemical peels treatment available.

A chemical peel is a process that helps improve the appearance of the skin of the face, hands and neck. Skin can often become prone to appearing dull and dark due to multiple reasons. Dark patches or spots may form on skin that is regularly exposed. Pollution, sun and acne are few reasons that can make the skin look dull, dark and uneven with unhealthy looking spots.  In a chemical peels treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin. This solution is meant to exfoliate and is later peeled off. New skin will appear under the peel, which is smoother with fewer wrinkles. Dull and uneven skin can make the person look older than their actual age. With a chemical peel, the healthy and younger looking skin is revealed eliminating the aged look of the face and hands.

How is a Chemical Peels Treatment Applied?

A chemical peels treatment is an outpatient procedure that requires no overnight stay. The procedure is handled under the supervision of an expert. They will start by cleaning your skin. Next step is the application of the chemical solution. A chemical solution can be of multiple types. It may include glycolic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, carbolic acid or trichloroacetic acid. The chemical solution is applied to small areas of the skin. The solution will create a controlled wound and new skin will be formed. During the chemical peels treatment, the patient will feel a burning sensation, which may last from 5 to 10 minutes. After the burning sensation has died, it may leave a stinging sensation behind. The treatment experts often recommend cold compresses to soothe the stinging. In the case of a deeper peel, the pain may be dealt with pain medication.

Types Of Chemical Peel

Healthmedica Medispa Wellness Centre offers three types of chemical peels.

Deep Glycolic Peel

This is the chemical peel treatment with the deepest effect on the skin. It has the main component of glycolic acid. Glycolic acid is a popular treatment for acne and wrinkles. It is mainly derived from sugar cane and is actually a fruit acid. The peel that is prepared from the glycolic acid will be applied to your skin in a light layer. The time for which the peel is left on your face may depend on the extent of your problem and how the expert thinks its best. Once the peel is removed, you don’t have to actually go through a recovery time. As far as pain is concerned, some people may not have it in intense amounts but since the peel is applied for deeper effect, it is very much possible to feel a little. The expert may send you home with pain killers. Often times, the glycolic peel is paired with cosmetic surgery but it is not necessary.

Medium Salicylic Peel

Salicylic peel is prepared from the salicylic acid. It is derived from beta hydroxyl acid family. It is a natural ingredient and is quite gentle for use on the skin. The treatment is completed under the supervision of an expert. The clinic version of this chemical peel uses higher concentrations of salicylic acid. The peel will be left on your face for about 10 to 20 minutes. The peel will be then removed and you may experience less discomfort as compared to a glycolic acid peel. The doctor will provide cool compresses for reducing nay redness or irritation. You may be required to take several sessions. The best befit is provided through 6 to 10 sessions. However, your expert will be able to provide better information about the number of sessions you require for your specify problem.

Superficial Lactic Peel

Lactic acid is derived from sour milk and the lactic peel is prepared using this ingredient. Lactic peels are specifically designed for people who have highly sensitive skin. These patients can’t handle the deeper effects of glycolic or salicylic peels. The doctor will apply the lactic peel to the patient’s skin and leave it for while to take effect. The concentration of lactic acids used in the peel may vary and the time it is left on your skin as well depending on what kind of skin problem you are suffering from and how sensitive your skin is. At Healthmedica Medispa Wellness Centre, all chemical peels are applied in a safe and comfortable environment. Some peels can produce painful after effects but the doctors will provide you with follow-up procedures or pain killers to manage that. In order to protect your skin from any damage you may be vulnerable to after the peel, the experts will provide you with proper instructions when you leave for home. The chemical peels treatment is provided at market competitive rates. You can expect great value for your invested time and money.
